Eudemons Online is a free-to-play MMORPG in which players can experience many of the trademark features of the genre, such as character customization, party systems, and player vs. player combat - with the addition of a unique element called "Eudemons". Eudemons are little creatures that begin life as eggs in your inventory, and once hatched they become your character's devout protectors and loyal soldiers, assisting you in battle. These creatures will level-up, learn skills and evolve alongside you from the very beginning. Two Eudemons are given to you as a free gift as soon as you finish the character creation process, and more become available as you progress through the game; eventually you'll be able to "compose" your own for a price. The 2D graphics are somewhat reminiscent of those in Ultima Online, with an isometric POV; but here, the design is used more effectively the isometric camera angle is much less steep and the characters and locations look more natural, rather like little paintings compared to UO's typically pixelated representations. The game provides a lot of stuff to do right from the get-go, such as crafting, dueling, Eudemon interaction and a quest system that feels more in-depth compared to other games of the same category. Higher level content is unfortunately scarce, though, unless you're willing to fork over the cash to get the more powerful items sooner than you'd find them within the game. Eudemons isn't the easiest MMORPG to pick up and play - there's a lot to digest about customizing your characters skills and abilities and even more so with your Eudemons. But poor translations in almost every line of text make it a struggle to truly understand the game's finer points. In any case, Eudemons Online does offer lots of low- to mid- level content for free, and its surprisingly structured storyline can make the game very addictive. MMORPG fans looking for their next mythical frontier may find what they're looking for in Eudemons Online. |
