Based on the animated movie from Pixar and Disney, Ratatouille is a linear platformer that stars Remy, a rat who dreams of becoming a famous French chef. You control him as he traverses the streets of Paris looking for ingredients and other items to further his career. Each of the game's levels gives you a number of objectives to accomplish usually fetching items for friends in need - while collecting hundreds of gold stars and batteries in pursuit of bonuses. The gameplay is typical 3D platform fare, with a frustratingly sensitive camera and an awkward keyboard control scheme; aside from a few interesting mini-games there's little to distinguish this from similar movie-licensed titles. Though the graphics are respectable and the voice work from Patton Oswalt and Brian Dennehy are above average, Ratatouille is, sadly, just another cash-in-on-a-movie's-popularity game. Kids may have a good time playing with Remy, but adults will most likely bash their keyboard to pieces.
