Description:

Age of Mythology is the first of the Age of Empires series to implement a full 3D engine that lets you view the world from any angle with a spin of a scroll wheel. That's just one of a host of refinements Age of Mythology brings to the table. It employs the tried-and-true gameplay design of its precursor, Age of Empires: Age of Kings, but eschews historical accuracy in favor of a world of mythos, gods and heroes. Scout units are replaced with mythical creatures such as a Pegasus, which can fly over and reveal unexplored terrain much faster than a ground unit.

You play as either the Greek, Norse or Egyptian civilization, each of which aligns with specific deities. For example, Greeks worship Zeus, Poseidon and Hades. And each god provides you with one single-use superpower, such as a comet storm that can decimate a village, or a lighting storm, or pestilence. If you earn enough Favor from the gods - a new resource, accumulated through worship at a temple - you can summon a formidable warrior such as a Cyclops or Medusa to stomp on your opponent. The replay value is immense. Age of Mythology includes an engaging 30-mission campaign, fantastic character animation, a scenario editor and multiplayer modes. It behooves all RTS fans to give this addictive game a spin.
