Imagine that Rome: Total War offered empire building as well as warmongering and you'll have a good idea of the premise of Glory of the Roman Empire, a real-time strategy game that takes place during the height of the Roman Empire. You'll start with almost nothing - a la Age of Empires - then construct homes, resource-collecting structures and the like, developing your towns into great cities. Then it's time to build up armies and obliterate enemies - pretty typical fare from a RTS title. Thankfully, the graphics are top-notch - particularly the weather and day-to-night effects - and the gameplay is solid, if derivative. Fans of any of the above-mentioned games may find much to like in Glory of the Roman Empire.
