After an airliner crashes on the Santa Monica freeway, take to the streets and try to survive. That's the premise behind Bad Day LA, a third-person run-and-gun fest. The graphics may remind you of XIII or Jet Set Radio - cartoony cell-rendered 3D - which suits the game's tongue-in-cheek style. Surrounded by poisoned, barfing zombies and maniacal pedestrians, you run around with bandages (for healing people), a crowbar and a fire extinguisher (which, somehow is able to cure zombie-ism). While the crazed populace is able to murder you, you're not supposed to kill them - just one of the frustrating problems with gameplay. And terrorists' ability to kill you quickly gets old real fast. Bad Day LA is fun enough, but its flawed design is unlikely to hold your attention past the first couple of levels.
