Description:

Battlefield 1942 is yet another of the first-person World War II games such as Medal of Honor and Call of Duty. It was the first, however, to incorporate drivable vehicles, an addition that made the game an instant hit. The design is just realistic enough to give you the flavor of the historic battle sites, but lenient enough to allow for fun if not entirely historically accurate gameplay. It's easy to jump right into the single-player action, mowing down enemy troops with a rifle or blasting them to bits with a tank cannon. You can ride shotgun on a jeep, picking off enemies while another soldier drives.

The game's popularity rose to an even higher level thanks to its terrific multiplayer mode, which can support up to 64 players (though realistically, framerates begin to suffer beyond 32). Collaboration in team play is great fun you can easily switch between roles such as scout, medic, and sniper. And there are 35 different land and sea vehicles, from jeeps and planes up to aircraft carriers. With its multitude of impressive options, Battlefield 1942 is undeniably accessible and enjoyable.
