Dawn of Magic is a surprisingly complex third-person RPG along the lines of Neverwinter Nights, but with a strong focus on magic. The four character classes you can choose are unusual - the Fat Friar, Weird Gypsy, Awkward Scholar, and Baker's Wife. Each, of course, has its own strengths. Whichever you choose, you are a student at a magic school and you specialize your spell-casting attributes before you embark on quests. Spells and spellbooks are paramount in this game; the number of disciplines, spells, enchantments et al, paired with the number of possible spell combinations is staggering. What Dawn of Magic lacks in detailed graphics it makes up for in depth of gameplay. RPG lovers who usually play mages and sorcerers should find much to like in this Dungeon Siege-type click-fest.
