Ankh brings back memories of the early days of gaming when adventure games such as King's Quest, Gabriel Knight and Alone in the Dark saturated the market. Ankh picks up the tradition, infusing it with modern graphics and sound, and the resulting gameplay feels like a mix between Monkey Island and Grim Fandango. In other words, interesting and fun. The gameplay consists of lots of point-and-click. You rely on your cursor - which changes shape depending on where it's currently hovering - and subtitles to tell you how you can interact with the environment. You keep items in a simple inventory, and you can combine various items to create a desired effect. It's straight, innocuous puzzle fare, appropriate for almost anyone but probably most enjoyable for the casual gamer. |
