When playing Combat Wings you may be struck by intense deja vu, but don't worry. It just means you've played Air Conflicts, Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII or Battle of Europe, all of which are extremely similar. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as Combat Wings fares pretty well compared to those other historical flight sims. It's pick-up-and-play arcade flight combat that's genuinely fun and a bit easier than most, for gamers who prefer immediate action over strict verisimilitude. Not that Combat Wings isn't realistic - the plane models look accurate, the particle clouds and water are impressive, and planes go down in flames quite impressively. Heck, just try it and decide for yourself. |
