Not since Thief 2: The Metal Age has there been a game like Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Primarily a stealth action FPS, Dark Messiah is also boasts RPG elements, successfully integrating chracter classes, an inventory as well as a skills tree which lets you increase the capabilities of your character. As in Thief 2, the gameplay allows for an infinite number of approaches to complete a mission. You can choose to sneak through the shadows and kill no one, barge through with spells and weaponry, as well as use the environment to your advantage. The Source engine (of Half-Life 2 fame) is used to great effect here with its excellent physics and beautiful, atmospheric environments. Fans of the Thief series - and FPS fans looking for a unique experience - will find much to like in Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. |
