Set in a cartoon-ish world populated with tiny, 2D, anime-like characters, Dofus is a far more complex MMORPG than it seems at first glance. It's got all of the stalwart RPG elements: Character creation includes class and profession choices, there's an inventory and plenty of magic spells, plus a host of NPCs who dole out missions (should you decide to go questing). If you prefer a calmer experience you can settle for becoming a merchant - a baker, for instance - go out and harvest wheat, grind it, mix it into bread dough, bake it and sell your loafs for a profit. Dofus is one of the most eccentric MMORPGs you're likely to come across. Its denizens and creatures are undeniably cute, sporting names like Piwi (a tiny bird), and Gobball (a rotund little sheep). Despite their darling appearance, you must fight and kill them (in amusing turn-based action) to gain experience points. As with most free-to-play online RPGs, non-paying players have access only to a fraction of the game's content, but there's enough to see and do here that even a glimpse can be a good time |
