Acclaim Games brings the rhythm and dancing genre out of the arcades and into the MMO arena with Dance! Online, a dance competition game in which you try to best other dancers over the internet using your rhythm skills, while customizing your own dancer with purchasable clothing and accessories. Dance Dance Revolution fans can now dance to their hearts content against a multitude of like-minded rhythm enthusiasts using the games built-in, user-friendly server locator. In each round, up to six dancers can compete against each other to get the highest point score; you rack up points for every error-free combo you complete and lose points whenever you make a mistake. The control scheme and interface are typical to the genre you watch multidirectional arrows rise to the top of the screen and push the matching arrow keys on the keyboard as accurately as possible timing is everything. DDR nuts should be pleased to know that the game also supports external dance-pad functionality, allowing you to use controllers for DDR and similar games to play Dance! Online. Of course, a rhythm game is only as good as its music and Dance Online! doesnt disappoint, with artists from Warner Music Group labels such as Atlantic Records and Rhino providing an ever-growing database of danceable tunes. Dance! Onlines graphics are equal to any other dance title out there, and the games relatively simple control scheme broadens its audience to include even fans of ancient punch-a-button console dancers such as Bust a Groove. Dont be fooled, though even the newbie levels require a certain level of skill, so when you log in, be prepared for some stiff competition. |
